Heidelberg Athletics Hall of Fame
Tom Jackson, a 1985 graduate, joins the Athletic Hall of Fame after establishing himself as one of the best wrestlers ever to don a singlet for The 'Berg.
Jackson had the best ever finish at the national meet taking home a third-place finish in 1994 and a sixth place award in 1992. Due to those performances he was a two-time All-American and three-time national qualifier. He was a three-time Ohio Athletic Conference champion at 190-pounds and was voted Heidelberg's Most Valuable Wrestler three-times. He was the team captain in 1994 and received the Herman E. Sayger Award, which is given annually to the graduating male and female student-athlete deemed most likely to succeed.
He posted a career .895 winning percentage, which is the best in school history for more than 40 career victories. His overall mark of 85-10 is good for eighth on the College's all-time win list, while his 30 wins as a sophomore and senior are the fifth-best single season marks in school history.
Jackson is currently an English teacher and wrestling coach at Lake High School. Following graduation he spent one year as an assistant wrestling coach for The 'Berg. He graduated from Rossford High School in 1988 and enrolled at Purdue University for one year. After taking a year off, he joined The 'Berg and the rest is well a major decision.
Jackson currently resides in Toledo with his wife, Angela, and their two children, Sophia and Harry.
