Heidelberg Athletics Hall of Fame
A graduate of Huron High School, Ward was dual force in athletics at Heidelberg earning four varsity letters in football and three in wrestling. In football, he was a two-time All-OAC honoree earning a spot on both the First Team and honorable mention lists.
Ward was a strong asset to the Heidelberg football team. He started in all 40-football contests throughout his collegiate career. During his junior and senior years as a student prince, Ward was a captain of the football team and three-time captain as a wrestler.
He also gained notable success on the mat. He was a NCAA Division III National Qualifier in the 285-pound weight class during his first varsity season. Ward went on to become an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) champion at 285-pounds.
At the end of his collegiate career, Ward had amassed a total of 65 wins, which sits at no. 31 in the career wins list, including setting the program's single season winning record, 21-4 (.815). He also had become a recipient of three OAC honors at the 285-pound weight class.
After graduation, he returned 11 years later to Heidelberg to earn his teaching degree while serving as a graduate assistant to both football and track and field. He is currently a teacher and coach at his high school alma mater Huron High School in Huron, Ohio.
