For the past 37 years, David Zartman has been a loyal supporter of Heidelberg athletics. On game day in the fall, he can be found in the press box at the football stadium, working in a variety of capacities. When football season ends, Zartman takes his expertise inside, to the hardwood. Since 1969, fans and players alike have come to know the men's basketball score book was in good hands with Zartman at the helm.

Zartman is involved with many alumni-oriented activities at Heidelberg. He is a member of the Heidelberg Fellows Organization, Alumni H-Association and the National Alumni Council, where he received the alumni citation in 1997. Zartman also received the H-Association Distinguished Service Award, and in 2005, was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame with the 1955 football team. He also received the 2007 Heidelberg Alumni Service Award.

From 1963-1990 Zartman played a major role in shaping the lives of area youngsters as a teacher in the Bloom Township Local Schools and the Tiffin City School System. In 1990, his years of dedication to his profession were recognized when he was named VFW Teacher of the Year.

Zartman has been a valuable member of his community, serving on the Bloomville Council for 10 years. He also was past president of the Seneca County Easter Seal Society; past board member of Tiffin-Seneca United Way; past member and chair of the Mercy Hospital Advisory Board; past member of the Tiffin Rangers Board of Directors; and charter member of the Bloomville Lion's Club, to name a few.

Besides donating much of his time to Heidelberg athletics and the surrounding community, Zartman enjoys spending time with his son Kevin and two grandchildren Breanna and Jordan, all of whom reside in Tiffin.
