Heidelberg Athletics Hall of Fame
Dr. Leonard Gaydos will be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in honor of the numerous years that he spent as the team doctor for Heidelberg College athletics.
He was born in Detroit, Mich. in 1915 and received his bachelor's and doctorate degrees from Wayne State University in Detroit. He was a member of the United States Navy Medical Corps from 1941 until 1962 and was in active duty from 1944 through 1946. He was appointed to Mercy Hospital in Tiffin and St. Francis Rehabilitation Hospital in Green Springs.
To focus only on Dr. Gaydos' medical career in the Seneca County area, would do a great disservice to the man. Dr. Gaydos was an active member of more than 16 different organizations during his lifetime. He served as a member of the Tiffin City Board of Education and Vanguard Sentinel Joint Vocational School Board of Education. He was the Tiffin Director for the BancOhio National Bank and steering committee member for the WBGU Public Television station in Bowling Green. He was also the chairman of the Ohio Elks State Association Cerebral Palsy Training Board.
He married Anita Gaydos, a former member of the Heidelberg Board of Trustees, and the couple has five children, Nancy, John, Barbara, Marianne and Thomas.
