Heidelberg Athletics Hall of Fame
J. Roy King joins the Hall of Fame with three varsity sports under his belt at Heidelberg. King was a four year letter-winner in both football and track and field while competing in one season of basketball.
In his four seasons of football, the Student Princes went a combined 31-3-3. King was a co-captain on the 1955 squad that finished a perfect 9-0 under head coach Paul Hoernemann.
In the spring, King competed in the long jump, high jump, quarter mile, and 440 and 880 yard relays. In 1956, he was honored with the Sayger Award and was elected to Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. King was also a member of the Excelsior Literary Society.
After college, he worked for six years as a chemist for the Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, New York, authoring six U.S. patents. King then moved to Hollywood, California, working in the motion picture and photo chemical markets divisions for Kodak. He is currently employed by Anodizing Professional Inc. as a manager and technical director in West Palm Beach, Florida.
King is the proud great-grandfather of four.
