Heidelberg Athletics Hall of Fame
Frederick M. Mayer, a retired business executive, formerly resided in Dallas, Texas.
A native of Youngstown, Mayer served as vice president and later as president of the Continental Emsco Co., Dallas, A manufacturer and distributor of oil and gas drilling equipment, for 33 years until his retirement in 1964.
A vice president and director for Continental's parent company, Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co., Mayer also served as director of the American Petroleum Institute, Texas Mid-Continent Oil Association, past president of Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association and a former member of the National Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association and a former member of the National Petroleum Council.
He has been an important voice in Heidelberg's history as a member of the board of trustees and as a contributor. It was through his generosity that Mayer Field stand as it does today.
Shortly after his graduation in 1920, Mayer obtained a law degree from Harvard University. He practiced law in Youngstown before joining Continental in 1931.
In addition, Mayer has served as a member of the Park Board and the Transit Board in Dallas. He is a former president and chairman of the board of the Dallas Museum of Art and Friends of Public Library. He is an honorary member of the Dallas citizens  Council.
