Don Behm enters the Hall of Fame for his years of loyal dedication and service to the many teams at Heidelberg over the past half-century.

His face has been present at the scorer's table as the timer for 'Berg basketball over the past 48 seasons and the press box for football games many of those same seasons.

Behm, a 1944 graduate of Bloomville High School, entered the U.S. Army and was promoted to sergeant major of the Mechanical Calvary. Following his discharge in 1946, he spent one year at Bowling Green State University.

Behm's commitment to The 'Berg began in January of 1948 when he enrolled on the Tiffin campus. Behm graduated three years later as a biology major with a minor in chemistry and physics. He spent all three years as a manager for the football team.

Behm spent two years after graduation working for the Northern Ohio Breeders Association as a roving technician and would spend the next 13 years as a salesman for Nabisco.

Then in 1966, at the spry age of 40, Behm found his calling as a teacher in the Thompson School District. He was the head basketball, track, and cross country coach at Thompson before the school's consolidation into the Bellevue school system. Following the consolidation he was a coach at the junior high level and finished with 30 years of coaching in the Bellevue School District.

Behm married Jean Good ('52) in 1952 and has resided in Republic for the past 27 years. Don and Jean have four children, Scott, Steve, Stewart ('90) and Suzi.
