A former resident of Philadelphia, Pa., Dr. Barock J Masuda has succeed in in all desired endeavors.

A 1920 Heidelberg graduate, he was initially trained in agricultural science at Texas A&M. After spending a few years in his native Egypt working on is father's cotton plantation, Dr. Masuda left a teaching position at the American University of Cairo in the early 1920's to study dentistry in the United States.

He studied dental and oral surgery in Philadelphia and what followed was a 50-year career as a staff dentist at various hospitals in the U.S.

Athletics was both fun and profitable for him. A member of the football, basketball, and track teams at Heidelberg, Dr. Masuda used his natural athletic talent to help defray the cost of his education by participating in matches with carnival wrestlers.

He trained with Jack Dempsey and served as Dempsey's trainer during the last two celebrated bouts with Gene Tunney.

A lineman in football, Dr. Masuda was an All-Ohio pick in 1919 as voted in by the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
