Heidelberg Athletics Hall of Fame
Ted Brunner, a native of Fremont, Ohio, graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1969. While at Fremont Ross he was involved in athletics and school government. His interest in both continued into his college days at Heidelberg College and his talents on the athletic field was outstanding while wearing the Tricolor.
A highlight of his Heidelberg career was participating in football, and Ted lettered three years. He was selected to the second team All-Ohio Conference his junior year, first team All-Ohio Conference his senior year, and was elected captain of the 1972 Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl championship team.
While in high school he was elected vice-president of his freshman class and president of his junior and senior classes. He was also president of the Lettermen's Club and active on many committees.
In athletics Ted lettered three years in football and was an honorable mention All-Buckeye Conference player his senior year. He also lettered several years in wrestling and was voted the Most Valuable Wrestler his senior year.
Following in his brother Rick's footsteps, Ted headed to Heidelberg College in September of 1969. While at Heidelberg he was involved in many student activities such as President of the Economics Club, Business Manager of the yearbook, and member of the Publications Committee.
Ted was selected to appear in the 1973 Who's Who in American Colleges. Concurrently with attending college full-time, he worked several part-time jobs in order to pay for his education.
Following graduation in 1973 he joined the United States Marine Corps. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1974 and was stationed at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. In 1976 he was the Cornmunications Officer for the Landing Force that evacuated Beirut, Lebanon.
Ted later went to work for Premier Industrial Corporation in their Fastener Division as a Sales Manager in Training and by 1986 was selected as the District Manager of the Year, followed by Zone Manager of the Year in 1991 and 1992. He is presently working for UZ Engineered Products Division of State Manufacturing Corporation, in charge of building a new sales division from ground zero in the western United States.
Ted, and his wife Patricia, reside in Oceanside, California and they have three children, Sara (15), Richard (13) and Megan (11).
