Vernon wrestled to two 30-plus win seasons in '93-'94 and '94-'95. His 35 victories during the 1994-1995 season are the third-highest total in school history. He finished that season 35-6, a winning percentage of .854, the 13th-highest winning percentage for the program.

His senior season of '94-'95 was his most celebrated as he became the fourth All-American in program history. That year, Vernon claimed an OAC individual championship at the 167-pound weight class and was an NCAA Academic All-American selection.

Vernon received the Herman Sayger Award and the Clyde Lamb Scholar-Athlete Award following his memorable senior season. As a four-time varsity letter winner, he helped guide the Student Princes to an overall dual-meet record of 33-21 under head coach Larry Shank.

Upon graduation, Vernon worked in sales and marketing at Boston Scientific for seven years and spent another five years in operations management at Parker Hannifin Corp., before joining Bernstein Global Wealth Management Investment and Research firm in 2007. Five years after joining Bernstein, he was named a principal of the firm, the position he holds today.

Vernon sits on the executive board of the Greater Cleveland Chapter Boy Scouts of America and several charities that attempt to better the quality of education in the Cleveland area. He also is a member of the board for the Cleveland Chapter of Association of Corporate Growth.

Vernon, his wife, Monica, and their three children, Grant (13), Elizabeth (12) and Dominic (11), reside in Concord Township, Ohio.
