Behm, a 1986 graduate of Bellevue High School, was a four-year letter-winner in cross country and track at The 'Berg and held seven records upon his graduation in 1990. On the cross country course, Behm was a three-time team MVP and earned All-OAC first team. He qualified for the national meet as a junior and was the team's captain his junior and senior seasons.

On the track, Behm was a two-time MVP and earned the OAC Jim Wuske Award for most outstanding track athlete in 1989. He earned eight All-OAC honors including being the 5000-meters OAC champion as a junior. Of the seven records, he held the indoor 1500, 3000, and 5000 meters and on the outdoor circuit he held the 1500, 3000, steeplechase, 5000, and 10000-meters.

Following his graduation from Heidelberg, Behm spent one season as the men's head cross country coach. He is currently head track coach at Tiffin Calvert High School.

Behm has two children, Nicole and Connor.
