Heidelberg Athletics Hall of Fame
J. Robert Seele passed away January 21, 1989, but not before scratching his memory in the hearts of the many that he worked and played for. Â
Seele graduated from Bucyrus in 1932, and went on to graduate from Heidelberg in 1936, but not before piling up a long list of accomplishments. Among them were all-conference honors in football, four letters in both basketball and football and president of his senior class. Â
Seele became a football coach at Columbian, where he earned a Buckeye League title in eight seasons with the Tornadoes. he moved on to Fremont Ross High School, where he worked as an offensive line coach during a 104-12-4 stint from 1947-57.
He was appointed principal of Fremont Junior High in 1958, a position he held until his retirement in 1971. Â
For his work, he was presented with an honorary lifetime membership in the Ohio Football Coaches Association. He was also president of the Sandusky County YMCA from 1965-67.
