Box Score TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University men's lacrosse team could not find its rhythm in a 16-1 loss to John Carroll University on Wednesday evening. The Blue Streaks built a commanding lead after the first period and held on the rest of the game.
John Carroll scored five goals in the first quarter, and added three more in the second quarter. JCU's Skyler Blake scored four goals in the first half to help the Blue Streaks to a commanding 8-0 lead at the half.
The Blue Streaks tacked on four goals in the third before HU got on the board. Freshman Nick Selfridge scored his 31st goal of the season off a pass from Patrick McCarthy.
JCU tallied the final four goals of the match. Skyler Blake led the offense with five goals for the visitors.
Max Rennillo made 12 saves in goal for the Student Princes, while Tyler Hammack recorded two saves. Rennillo picked up four ground balls and Matt Wernerspach picked up three.
The Berg falls to 3-12, 0-7 OAC as John Carroll improves to 9-4, 7-0 in conference play.
Heidelberg closes out its inaugural season on Saturday afternoon when it hosts Mount Union. First face off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
