WEST LAFAYETTE -- For the first time in program history, the Heidelberg University Women's Golf team has an OAC Champion.
Lydia Dietz -- a junior -- won the Ohio Athletic Conference title by five shots. Dietz and her teammates finished fourth overall.
Dietz entered Sunday with a four-stroke lead and held her own throughout the windy afternoon. While others faltered, the Botkins, Ohio, native strung together six straight bogey-free holes between 8 and 13 to bolster her advantage. When she finished her round, she was tied for the lead. Her nearest competition was still playing -- forcing her, and her nervously-excited teammates to watch helplessly from near the 18th green. As the others stumbled, it became apparent that Dietz would claim the crown.
Dietz shot a 79-76-81--236 for the weekend. Her five-stroke win was the largest margin of victory at the OAC Championship since 2021. The finish was her third topa-10 finish of her career, with a sixth-place finish as a freshman and a fourth-place finish as a sophomore.
Sophomore
Brooke Barnes took ninth, carding a consistent 82-82-82--245. She collected four birdies on the weekend, including two on Sunday. Her top 10 finish bested her 18th place finish as a freshman.
Senior
Danielle Powell, playing her final round for the Student Princes, jumped five spots on the leaderboard. She finished 21st, shooting a 94-87-83--264.
Sophomore
Lexie Honigford was 22nd, carding an 85-86-94--265.
Freshman Adisyn Kramer was 28th in her OAC debut, shooting a 90-87-94--271.
As a team, Heidelberg shot a 336-330-340--1006, 10 strokes out of third. ONU won the team title with a 978.
