VB shakes off slow start, beats Oberlin in four

TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University Volleyball team shrugged off a slow start in a 3-1 victory over Oberlin College on Tuesday. The Student Princes won 16-25, 25-9, 25-17, 25-19, moving a game over .500 (11-10) as they turn their sights on Ohio Athletic Conference action.

Emma Jones led the team with 10 kills, Maddie Reed led with 25 assists, Kaitlyn Uffman led with four blocks for HU, and Grace Dohanyos tallied 22 digs for the Student Princes. 

Heidelberg rebounded after a dismal opening set to attack at a .417 clip in the second set.  The HU defense held the Yeowomen to a negative attack in the second and the third, taking control of the match. Tied at 17 in the third, Heidelberg rattled off the final eight points of the set.

The Student Princes were able to separate early in the fourth set, cruising to a comfortable victory.

In the game, HU hit .235 and Oberlin hit .076. Heidelberg held an 8-0 edge in total blocks. 

Heidelberg returns to action on Saturday for the start of OAC play. The Tricolor travels to Wilmington for a 1 p.m. game.
