WEST LAFAYETTE -- A monster Sunday helped propel the Heidelberg University Men's Golf team from sixth to a fourth place finish at the 2025 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship, hosted at River Greens Golf Course. The Student Princes had the best final round score of all nine teams on Sunday, shooting a 305-308-295--908 for the tournament, shortened to 54 holes because of persistent rain on Saturday.
The fourth-place finish was Heidelberg's best result since a third-place finish in 2018.
The Student Princes were led by All-OAC efforts from
Emerson Grassbaugh and
Josh Ferdon. Grassbaugh, a sophomore, was fourth overall with a 74-76-70--220. His career best -1 70 on Sunday included four birdies, three of which came on the first five holes of the back nine.
Ferdon, a junior, earned all-conference laurels for the second time in his career with a 73-75-75--223, good for 10th place.
Sophomore
James Johnston was next for Heidelberg, taking 29th place with an 80-78-75--223.
In his farewell, grad student
Cameron Spraggins was 34th. He shot a 78-79-80--237.
Junior
Logan Niese brought in an 81-83-75--239 to place 38th.
John Carroll won the team trophy by five strokes. John Carroll's Michael Keefe beat Otterbein's Ian Morgan in a playoff hole to take individual champion honors.
