54 holes complete for women's golf

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ohio -- With 54 holes in the books, the Heidelberg University Women's Golf team sits fourth of nine teams competing at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship at River Greens Golf Course. After playing 27 holes on Friday and another 27 holes on Saturday, the stage is set for the final 18 holes on Sunday.  

Lydia Dietz is fourth overall with a 75-84-83--242. She is a mere five strokes off the lead and three out of third place.  

With a consistent 85-85-84--254, Danielle Powell is eighth. The reigning OAC Golfer of the Week Brooke Barnes carded an 88-89-87--264, good for 16th. 

Elizabeth Jackson had Heidelberg's only birdie in the second round and now sits 25th with an 89-91-91--271.  Anzaya Estep is 36th with an 89-101-92--282.  

Mount Union and Ohio Northern are tied atop the team leaderboard with 992s. Otterbein is third with 1017, and Heidelberg (337-349-345--1031) is fourth. John Carroll is a distant fifth with an 1103. 

ONU's Marisa Alfes (79-76-82--237) is first, with MTU's Jocelyn Troyer (75-76-88--239) and ONU's Amelia Burger (76-80-83--239) are tied for second.

Play resumes on Sunday morning. 

From Friday:
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ohio --  Through the first round of the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship, Heidelberg University was third in the nine-team field. Lydia Dietz was tied for first with a +3 75, playing the Pines and Greens nines at River Greens Golf Course. Play continued on Friday with teams scrambling to get another nine holes in before rain came. 

Dietz had four birdies and eagled the 465-yard par-5 12th hole. She was locked in a tie with Mount Union's Jocelyn Troyer.  

Danielle Powell was next for Heidelberg, carding a +13 85. Her round included a birdie on 9.  

Brooke Barnes brought in a +16 88 while Elizabeth Jackson and Anzaya Estep shot +17 89s.  

As a team, Heidelberg was a +49 337, one stroke ahead of Otterbein.  Mount Union held the 18-hole lead with a 320.  

Teams will play another 27 holes on Saturday.
