After a tremendous senior season, Heidelberg University Men's Basketball player Eric Panning has been named a consensus all-region honoree.

Panning earned Third Team All-Region honors from D3hoops.com, marking the first time he has received the honor. He joins Andrew Lemmon (2007-08) as just the second player in program history to be named to a D3Hoops.com All-Region Team.

Additionally, Panning was recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), earning Second Team All-Region honors for Region 7. He becomes just the seventh player in Heidelberg history to receive an NABC All-Region selection, joining a list that includes Jerry Buccilla (1983-84), Bill Dufur (1989-1990), Andrew Lemmon (2007-08), Lucas Messer (2002-03, 2003-04), Josh Murphy (1996-97) and Myron Prewitt (2018-19).

During the 2024-25 season, Panning showcased his dominance on both ends of the floor. The senior forward started all 27 games, averaging 14.7 points and 10.0 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 50.6% from the field. He recorded nine double-doubles and remained a key presence in the paint, averaging 1.4 blocks per contest. After the season, he was named an OAC First Team selection.

This season's performance followed a stellar 2023-24 campaign, in which Panning was named First Team All-Conference and earned Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Over his career, Panning has played in 117 games, making 103 starts, and has amassed 1,243 points and 1,004 rebounds. He joins Chris Reichert (1975-79) as the only 1,000-1,000 players in program history.
