WESTERVILLE -- After helping to guide the Heidelberg University Men's Basketball team to a share of first place in the OAC standings, Elijah Harden has been named Ohio Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week. This is Harden's first time receiving this honor.
Heidelberg defeated Baldwin Wallace, 92-81, on Wednesday. Harden played 29 minutes, racking up 16 points, two assists and a steal. He also went 5-7 from the charity stripe.
On Saturday, the Student Princes toppled Mount Union in Alliance, 75-71. Harden scored a season-high 30 points, connecting on 10 of 17 shots and a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line. He also recorded a season-high four rebounds.
On the year, Harden has 229 points, 21 assists, nine steals and 25 total rebounds. On the year, he leads the team in PPG with 17.6. He needs just five points to reach the 1,000 career points mark, dating back to his time at Thiel.
The men's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday, Jan 15 as they travel to John Carroll. That game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
