Baseball falls in Alliance

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ALLIANCE -- The Heidelberg University baseball team dropped a pair of OAC contests on Sunday, falling at Mount Union 6-2 and 9-3.  Halfway through the 40-game grind, Heidelberg slipped to 10-10 overall, 2-2 in the OAC.  

Orion Kroah led HU with three hits on the afternoon.

GAME ONE:  MTU 6-10-0   BERG 2-7-1

Heidelberg scored twice in the top of the first inning, with Aidan Corrigan and Camden Farley scoring on a two-out single from Cort Kramer.  

The hosts tied the game with two runs in the third, then took a 3-2 lead in the fifth.  They added two in the seventh and one in the eighth.  

The Student Princes were held scoreless after the first, mustering seven hits on the day.  Kramer and Andrew Cook each had two.  

Corbin Caplan worked the first six six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits.  Zane Mirgon worked the final two innings.  

GAME TWO:  MTU 9-10-0   BERG 3-7-2

Down 2-0 in the second, Heidelberg plated three.  Kyle Krummen singled and Kramer walked to start the frame.  Orion Kroah delivered an RBI single to center with one out.  With two outs, Braedy Limke tripled to right, scoring two.  He was thrown out at home trying for an inside-the-park home run.  

Mount Union answered with runs in each of the next four innings, taking a 9-3 lead.  

Jackson Powers got the start, but only three of the seven runs he allowed were earned.  He fanned five.  

UP NEXT:  

Heidelberg will host Wittenberg on Tuesday at 4 p.m., a game originally scheduled for March 14.
