WLAX: Berg stays perfect, cruises to win

TIFFIN -- Back on its home turf for the first time since February, the Heidelberg University women's lacrosse team cruised to an 18-0 win over first-year program Earlham College. Heidelberg, who had eight different goal scorers, improved to 4-0 on the season.

Anna Winnicki paced the offense with a career-high six goals and two points. Angela Lulejian had three goals and an assist. Jenna Carman, Jen Kovarik and Alexandra Farmer each tallied two goals apiece.

Three minutes in, the Student Princes struck with a goal from Lulejian. Winnicki followed it up with a score of her own less than two minutes, before Lulejian tacked on her second six minutes into the contest.

Junior Jen Kovarik added a man-down goal with 16:28 before halftime.

The Student Princes held an 8-0 lead at the break.

Led by Winnicki, the Berg kept pace in the second half.

When called upon, freshman goalie Jess Ballow was stellar in goal, making three saves. Ballow leads Division III in goals against average.

Heidelberg outshot the Quakers 36-5. Winnicki and Pree Bryant each caused three turnovers.

Earlham (0-3) goalkeeper Jordan Blackburne registered 12 saves.

Heidelberg hits the road on Wednesday for a matchup with Ohio Wesleyan (2-3). Game time begins at 7 p.m.
