BEXLEY -- The Heidelberg University women's lacrosse team wrapped up the 2022 season with a 20-3 setback to Capital University. The Student Princes finished with an 0-15 record overall, 0-8 in the conference.
Capital (16-0, 7-0) led 10-0 after a quarter and led 12-0 before HU got on the board with a
Gianna Ricci unassisted goal.
Kelly Spence added a goal in the middle of the third quarter off a pass from
Sydney Shaffer.
Shaffer added HU's final goal early in the fourth quarter.
Defensively,
Mackenzie Hawley forced two turnovers and
Ella Lane made 14 saves.
For the season,
Brianna Lloyd led the team with 21 goals. Shaffer had a team high 11 assists and 30 points.
Payton Dawson had a team-high 16 caused turnovers and
Kelly Spence led the field players with 43 ground balls.
In goal,
Ella Lane played all 905 minutes and made 157 saves, obliterating the previous single-season record of 112 (Jessica Ballow, 2018).
