NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- It was a busy day for the Heidelberg University men's tennis team. First, the team started its day in Marietta, where it won 5-4 Marietta College. The team then traveled to Muskingum University, where they defeated the Muskies 8-1.
In the match against the Pioneers, the Berg picked up two doubles wins. Dan Driscoll and Paul Claymier took the match by a score of 8-5. In the final doubles match, Tate Schoen and Alex Sprague took a huge match for the Student Princes in a tiebreaker. The duo won the match, 9-8.
Ben Moore took the first singles match for HU with a 6-1, 6-2 victory while Porus Shroff picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win. Schoen won his singles match, 6-4, 6-1, to seal the win for the Student Princes.
The Berg swept the field in doubles matches with Moore and Shroff picking up the first win, 8-0. The duos of Driscoll and Claymier and Schoen and Sprague both won their doubles matches by scores of 8-2 and 8-2.
Moore got the Berg off to a strong start in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win. Shroff followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win.
Driscoll won a tiebreaker match, 6-2, 3-6 (10-5). Claymier won his match, 6-1, 6-2 and Schoen won his second match of the day by a score of 6-1, 6-1.
The team will be back in action on Apr. 10 as it hosts Capital. The match is a rescheduled affair from Apr. 4.
