HILTON HEAD -- The Heidelberg University tennis teams lost their opening matches of their spring trip on Sunday. The men's team lost 7-2 and the women's team lost 8-1, both to Albion College.
The men's team picked up wins at first singles and first doubles. In singles, Ben Moore beat Zach McKenzie 6-3, 6-1. In doubles, Moore teamed up with Tyler Flickinger to beat McKenzie and Nick Kinachtchouk. Heidelberg won, 9-7.
Paul Claymier and Dan Driscoll went to a tiebreaker at second singles, but fell 9-8 (7-2).
Markilynn Hogle went to a tiebreaker at first singles, picking the lone win on the women's side. She beat Lauren Rasmussen 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (12-10).
Allie Gales (third singles) and Summer Hunter-Kysor (fifth singles) each lost in tiebreakers.
The teams return to action on Tuesday against Milligan.
