Box Score BEAVER FALLS, Penn. -- Two early goals from Danielle Rathfon was all it took as the Heidelberg University women's soccer team defeated Geneva College 2-1. The Student Princes improve to 4-2-2 while Geneva drops to 3-4.
Two minutes into the match, Erica Campbell served a cross from the left side. The ball found the foot of a wide open Rathfon and she slipped it past the Geneva keeper for her second goal of the season.
In the 12th minute, Rathfon struck again. This time, she gathered a ball in the box from Campbell. Rathfon knocked the loose ball in past Danielle Lincoln, pushing the Berg's advantage to 2-0.
The Golden Tornadoes cut HU's lead in half in the 52nd minute. Becca Ceffaratti beat goalkeeper Bri Casement for her seventh goal this season.
In her first collegiate start, HU goalkeeper Casement made eight saves. Geneva's Lincoln made nine saves in the match.
The Berg fired 17 shots in the contest compared to Geneva's 12.
Heidelberg returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Bluffton University. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
