Braatz Finishes Season with 13 Goals

TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University Women's Soccer team ended their season with a 5-2 loss to Baldwin Wallace University. The Student Princes led by a goal at half, but the Yellow Jackets pulled away.

The women finish with a 4-13 record, 1-7 in conference play.

The Student Princes started strong, finding the back of the net first. In the 17th minute, Brianna Braatz tallied her 13th goal of the season from the top of the box.

The Yellow Jackets found their equalizer three minutes later. A high flyer snuck right by the keeper put the score 1-1.

Junior Ella Jacobs secured her first goal of the season to lift The Berg, 2-1, before halftime. On a restart from 40 yards out, Jacobs sent a shot toward the top left corner. The BW goalkeeper punched it up, into the crossbar. Momentum carried the ball just across the line before it bounced and spun toward the field. Ava Deatrick was there to hammer home the rebound, just in case -- resulting in a goal either way.

With Heidelberg forced to play with 10 players because of a red card, Baldwin Wallace went on to score four goals in the second half.

In the goal, Maddi Springer recorded eight saves over 90 minutes.

Heidelberg registered four shots. Braatz's goal was her league-leading 13th of the season.
