Men's Tennis falls 8-1 to Otterbein

TIFFIN – In their final home match of the season, the Heidelberg University men's tennis team fell 8-1 to Otterbein. With the regular season concluded, the Student Princes will now set their sights on the upcoming Ohio Athletic Conference tournament, which will begin on Wednesday.

With the loss, Heidelberg fell to 5-11 (2-6 OAC) while the Cardinals improved to 12-7 (6-2 OAC).

After Otterbein swept the three doubles matches, Heidelberg found more success in singles play. Jonathan Long came away with a dominant 6-3, 6-0 win at first singles for his team-leading 10th victory of the season.

At second singles, Ben Moore rallied after dropping the first set 6-2 to take the second 6-4, but he was defeated 10-3 in the tiebreaking third set to drop the match.

Heidelberg has earned the sixth seed in the upcoming OAC Tournament and will travel to third-seeded Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday for the tournament quarterfinals. That match is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. in Berea.
