TIFFIN - The Heidelberg University men's tennis team dropped their final non-conference match of the season on Friday, falling 6-3 to Defiance College. The match, which had been postponed twice, was finally played Friday afternoon at Tiffin University.
With the loss, Heidelberg fell to 5-10 on the year while Defiance improved to 8-10.
Heidelberg fell in first and second doubles, but at third doubles, the team of Paul Claymier and Kyle Simpson grinded out a 9-7 win.
In singles play, Tyler Flickinger rebounded after dropping the first set 6-1 to win the second 6-1 and finished things off with a 6-2 win in the tiebreaking third set to earn the win.
At sixth singles, Kyle Simpson had a dominant performance, picking up a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
Heidelberg will be right back in action tomorrow, April 30th, when they host Otterbein at 3:30 p.m. in their final regular season match of the year.
