ADA, Ohio – The Heidelberg University men's tennis team took to the road on Saturday, facing Ohio Northern in an OAC clash with their geographic rival. The Student Princes came up short, however, falling 8-1 to the Polar Bears.
Heidelberg fell to 5-8 (2-4 OAC) on the year with the loss while ONU improved to 6-11 (3-4 OAC).
The lone match victory on the day for the Berg came at sixth singles where Kyle Simpson defeated Nathan Knodel in straight sets. Simpson was in a battle throughout, but he was able to grind out a close 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win.
Two other singles matches went to a tiebreaking third set, but both Ben Moore at second singles and Paul Claymier at fifth singles were edged out in close matches.
Heidelberg will return to action on Monday when they travel to Capital.
