Box Score TIFFIN –The Heidelberg women's soccer team defeated the Lions of Mount St. Joseph, 1-0, thanks to a late goal by freshman Amanda Kilway. The Student Princes moved to 4-4 and the Lions fell to 5-2-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
At the end of a scoreless first half MSJ outshot the Berg, 11 to six. Denise Bowes gave the Tricolor a solid look when she struck the ball from outside the box and the Lions goalie, Michelle Hessling tipped the ball over the bar. Berg goalie Alexandra Farmer had four saves in the half.
In the second half, the Student Princes battled for more than 40 minutes before they broke the tie. Left the left side, senior Kristen Keenan footed a ball to Danielle Rathfon, whose shot on goal was knocked away by Hessling. Kilway gathered the loose ball and footed it into the empty net. The game-winner was Kilway's second goal of the season.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
This win was the third clean sheet of the season for Farmer, who finished with eight saves.
The Student Princes were outshot 20-13.
Heidelberg improved to 4-1 at home.

Heidelberg head coach Nick Spell on the afternoon: "I thought our team did a great job ... Mount St. Joe is such a great team, organized well, it definitely took a team effort today ... Everyone stepped up and did a good job in their role."
Spell on the play of his forwards: "It's exciting when you can have three freshmen up top and just to see them grow every game ... That last goal shows how far they are and how far they'll go."

On Saturday, the Tricolor will travel to Kentucky to take on the Pioneers of Transylvania University. The Pioneers currently have a record of 1-3-1.
