HILTON HEAD ISLAND, South Carolina -- The Heidelberg University men's tennis team is still hunting for its first win of the season after a pair of defeats during their spring break trip. Heidelberg fell to Albion College, 8-1, and to Thomas More College, 5-4.
Tyler Flickinger took the only victory against the Britons with a win at #2 singles. He defeated Zack McKenzie, 7-6 (8-6), 1-6, 1-0 (10-5). At #1 singles, Benjamin Moore was narrowly defeated by Ryan Kynast, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8).
Flickinger and Moore teamed up for a win at #1 Doubles against the Saints. The pair beat Jared and Austin Justice, 8-5.
Heidelberg picked up three wins at singles play against Thomas More. At #1 singles, Moore beat Jared Justice, 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 10-6. Jamie Cole won at #4 singles, 7-5, 7-5, over Will Neltner. Kyle Simpson defeated Sam Lewis at #5 singles, 6-1, 6-3.
The Student Princes finish up their trip to the Carolina Coast with matches on Thursday and Friday against Emory & Henry and Marietta.
