HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Heidelberg University men's tennis team opened their southern swing with 6-3 victory over Gordon College.
The Student Princes dropped the number one and two singles matches before rallying to take the next four from Fighting Scots. Freshman Benjamin Moore began the four match sweep with a 7-6, 6-1 victory at in the third singles match.
Freshman Tyler Flickinger continued the Berg's success with a 7-5, 6-7 triumph over Gordon's Richie Armand. Senior Matt McDivitt and sophomore Dan Driscoll finished singles action with a pair of 6-4; 6-2, and 6-2; 6-0 victories.
'Berg number one and two, Zach Schwenning and Dorian Kempf dropped the only doubles match for the Student Princes, 8-6. McDivitt and Flickinger teamed up to win the second doubles match, 8-5 followed by a 9-8 (9-7) victory from the duo of Moore and Driscoll.
The Berg men will take on the Greenville Panthers as they continue competition in Hilton Head, S.C.
