Box Score TIFFIN – For 88 minutes, Heidelberg University women's soccer played even with John Carroll University. With less than two minutes left to play, the Blue Streaks' Sarah Ruckstuhl knocked a loose ball in the net off of a corner kick to put a point on the board. John Carroll (9-6-3, 6-2 OAC) nearly got on the board in the 15th minute when Nicki Bohrer's shot off a pass from Kay Akerly hit off the crossbar and ricocheted away.
The game remained scoreless through the first half. The Blue Streaks put up 13 shots in the period, but could not push anything past Heidelberg goalkeeper Molly Schriber.
Early in the second half, Heidelberg (3-14-1, 2-6 OAC) nearly took the lead. A header from Christina Neal nicked off the crossbar and out of bounds on a corner kick.
The Student Princes had plenty of chances in the second half, tallying five shots in the period.
Heidelberg will close out the season at Mount Union on Saturday. In addition to Schriber, Bethany Mattern will be playing her final game for the Student Princes as well. The game will kick off at 3 p.m.
