HIRAM, Ohio – Sometimes, the third time is the charm.

Heidelberg University women's soccer fell to Hiram College in overtime on Wednesday, 2-1. On her third great scoring opportunity, Hiram forward Kelsey Martin finally managed to beat Heidelberg's Molly Schriber, clinching victory for the host.

Heidelberg junior Christina Neal opened the scoring in the tenth minute. The goal was the first of Johnson's career.

The Terriers found an equalizer in the 17th minute. Robynn McGroarty scored off an assist by Allie Glatt.

The score remained knotted at one in the 65th minute. Heidelberg committed a foul in the penalty area, which gave Hiram a penalty kick. Diving to her right, Schriber knocked down the strike from Martin and the Heidelberg defense was able to clear the ball.

Still tied at one, the contest moved to overtime. Martin had a breakaway in the first minute of overtime, but again, Schriber was equal to the task. She made the save, diving to her right.

Moments later, though, Hiram found the back of the net. Martin tapped in a rebound off a shot from McGroarty that hit the crossbar.
Schriber had 14 saves in the loss.

Heidelberg (1-8-1) hosts Marietta College on Saturday. The match, slated for a 2 p.m. start, is the OAC opener for both schools. The Marietta match also marks Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
