HU plays well in final tune-up

COLUMBIA STATION, Ohio -- In their final test before the OAC Championships, the Heidelberg University Men's Golf team had a strong showing at the BW Spring Shootout. The Student Princes shot a 298 and had five players finish inside the top 10.  

Competing on the B team, Emerson Grassbaugh shot an even par 71 at Columbia Hills -- good for second overall and one shot off the lead. 

Logan Niese was the A team's top scorer, placing third with a +1 72. James Johnston was next, carding a +3 74. Cael Dowdell and Josh Ferdon wrapped up the scoring with +5 76s. Matthew Peter was HU's fifth, shooting a 77.  

Lance Frankart also shot a 77 for the B team, which finished with a 314. Max Schneckenburger had a 79, Matthew Kittle shot an 87 and Jack Rinehart carded an 88.  

HU, second as a team, finished seven strokes behind Mount Union and 16 strokes better than host Baldwin Wallace.  

The Student Princes will square off with the Purple Raiders, the Yellow Jackets, and five other OAC foes at this weekend's conference championship at River Greens. The three-day, 54-hole event will start on Friday.
