WESTERVILLE -- Days after capping his illustrious career with a personal best, Heidelberg University Men's Golfer
Josh Ferdon has received one more honor. On Thursday, Ferdon was named an All-Ohio Athletic Conference First Team honoree.
In the final round of the OAC Championships, Ferdon shot a 3-under 69 to beat his previous collegiate best by one stroke. The triumph catapulted him into eighth place overall -- his third top-10 finish at the OAC Championships of his career.
"I am so proud of Josh and all of his accomplishments as a golfer during his four years at Heidelberg," said Head Coach
Chris Abrams. "It is great when a guy like Josh is recognized by those he competes against in this way."
Unlike previous seasons when the All-OAC teams were solely based on the leaderboard at the OAC Championships, league coaches voted on post-season awards this year. The decision allowed the coaches to consider the full resume of each golfer -- more than just one weekend of play.
This season, Ferdon averaged a career-low 75.19 per round. He won medalist honors twice, winning Heidelberg's Snowball's Chance Invitational and the Mount Union Spring Invitational.
At the 2026 Siggy Awards, Ferdon received the Paul Hoernemann Award, given to a graduating student who exemplifies the characteristics of mind, body, and spirit to which Paul Hoernemann, '38, dedicated his own life: high ethical character, scholarship, proficiency in athletics and conspicuous loyalty to the spirit of Heidelberg University.
"The All-OAC selection reflects not only Josh's play, but also the wonderful person he is," said Abrams. "As a coach, that is always the goal … and Josh is the gold standard."
Round-by-round records for the men's golf program date back to 2003. With a career average of 76.92, Ferdon is second all time, only trailing Zack Koinis (76.25 from 2008-2010).
