RICHMOND, Indiana -- The Heidelberg University Men's Lacrosse team scored in bunches and moved over .500 with a convincing 15-4 win at Earlham on Saturday.
Colin Parker had an eight-point night, scoring three goals and assisting on five more.
Heidelberg heads into their Spring Break trip to Louisiana with a 3-2 record.Â
Parker opened the scoring with a goal at 9:09. Seconds later, he fed
Rayce Septer for another. Â Septer and
Malachai Davis tallied goals in the final minute of the first, and HU led 4-1 through 15 minutes.Â
Parker's second came less than a minute after the Quakers made it 4-2, providing an important momentum shift. Â Davis,
Mario Manzardo and
Mark Scherger all scored in a three minute span, pushing HU's lead up to 8-2 by halftime.Â
Manzardo's second of the game was sandwiched between Earlham goals in the third. The Berg held a 9-4 lead after three. Â
The fourth quarter was all Berg.
Kaivin Jones ignited the six-goal frenzy with a tally 35 seconds into the fourth. Â Parker and Davis scored 42 seconds apart, then Manzardo scored a man-down goal midway through. Â Septer capped the contest with his third and fourth goals of the evening. Â
MJ Yarosh had seven ground balls, and four 'Berg players caused two turnovers. In goal,
Wilson Runnette made 19 saves in 56:39.
Sean McGee had two in the final 3:21.Â
Parker's five assists was one shy of tying the program's single-game record of six, set by Liam Weaver at Anderson in 2019. Septer's quartet of goals were his most in a game since he scored seven against Thiel last year.Â
Heidelberg's Louisiana trip will include a game at Centenary on Wednesday. The opening faceoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET.Â
