SHREVEPORT, La. -- On their spring trip to warmer climates, the Heidelberg University lacrosse team fell to Centenary College, 15-3, on Tuesday evening. The game was played a day early because of a stormy Wednesday for Northwest Louisiana.
The Gents scored the first four goals of the game to take control.
Colin Parker put Heidelberg on the board with 3:55 left in the first, charging in out top, beating his man to his right, then rifling a shot into the net.
The hosts scored all five goals in the second and led, 9-1, at halftime.
The Gents extended their lead with three goals in the third period.
Mario Manzardo scored a man-up goal to open the fourth quarter. He took a pass from
Rayce Septer and buried it from out top. Minutes later, Septer cashed in on a goal himself. He bolted down the right wing and shot in one motion, beating the goalkeeper.
Centenary scored the final three goals of the game.
Wilson Runnette made 25 saves, the third 25+ save performance of his career.
Heidelberg visits Thiel College next Wednesday. The tussle with the Tomcats is slated for a 7 p.m. start in Greenville, Penn.
