Davis breaks record against Thiel, 25-4

GREENVILLE, Penn. -- The Student Princes didn't just win -- they dominated from start to finish on a statement performance, sweeping past Thiel, 25-4, in a high-class offensive showcase. In the process, freshman Malachai Davis set a program record with an 11-point performance, scoring six goals and assisting on five.

Colin Parker tallied five goals and Rayce Septer had four goals and two assists in the onslaught.

After an early punch from the Tomcats, Heidelberg wasted no time responding. The offense came alive midway through the first quarter, firing off four straight goals to take control. Berg held a narrow 14-3 lead at the half.

Heidelberg tacked on 11 more goals in the third and fourth quarters, continuing to dominate possession and capitalize on opportunities. The defense delivered as well, creating 13 turnovers while dominating possession with a 70-50 edge in ground balls.

Wilson Runnette allowed three goals in 45 minutes of action, stopping 12 shots. Sean McGee made three saves and allowed one goal.

The 11-point night for Davis broke the previous record of 10 points, set by Liam Weaver on March 6, 2019, at Anderson.

Heidelberg hosts Otterbein on Saturday for the start of Ohio Athletic Conference action. Gametime in Hoernemann Stadium is slated for 1 p.m.
