TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University Baseball team dropped their home opener, falling to Adrian College, 9-3. The Student Princes fell to 9-6 on the season.
After a scoreless first, Adrian struck for six in the second. They held that advantage until plating two more in the top of the sixth.
A cadre of Bulldog pitchers kept the Student Princes offense out of rhythm throughout much of the contest. Down 9-0 in the bottom of the eighth,
Simeon Betts dashed for third on an errant throw to left, then scored on a double down the left field line by
Braedy Limke.
Sam Schneider followed with an RBI line drive single to center.
The Student Princes added a run in the ninth on an RBI fielder's choice off the bat of
Owen Hood.
Heidelberg travels to Muskingum on Saturday for the start of OAC action. The twinbill in New Concord is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
