FT. PIERCE, Fla. -- The Heidelberg University Baseball team wrapped up their Florida trip with a resounding 12-3 win in a lightning-shortened game over Lasell University on Saturday.
Cohen Sendelbach had a hat trick of two-run hits, finishing the day with six RBI.
Heidelberg improved to 9-5 on the campaign and emerged with a 4-4 record along the Atlantic coast.
Down 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Heidelberg took control with five runs. Garrett Labeau tied the game with an RBI single, scoring
Grant Bomer.
Cohen Sendelbach drove in two with a single through the left side, then
Jameson Olesen sent a two-run double down the line in right.
Heidelberg pushed across three more runs in the second.
Logan Winstead drove in
Braedy Limke, who led off the inning with a double. With two outs, Sendelbach delivered another two-run single.
In the bottom of the sixth, Heidelberg led, 8-3. Limke doubled again, then scored on a single by Bomer. After an error, a single and a walk,
Brayden Tucker contributed a sacrifice fly. Sendelbach lined a double to the gap in right center, scoring Labeau and
Thomas McGuire.
After the Sendelbach double, the game went into a lightning delay and was later called.
Logan Walpole went the distance on the mound, giving up three runs (one earned) and striking out six.
Heidelberg hit .352 on the trip, led by Winstead's .517 average. He had a team-high seven doubles and drove in 10. Limke hit .417 and amassed 11 RBI and 11 runs. Tucker hit .429 with eight runs scored.
The Student Princes are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday. Adrian College will visit Peaceful Valley for a single game at 4 p.m.
