TIFFIN -- A new era for the Heidelberg University Men's Soccer team begins this fall, under the tutelage of first-year Head Coach
Michael Wright. Wright will look to right the ship for the program, which closed the season with a 1-1-1 record in the final three games of 2024.
THE COACHES:
Wright, a graduate of Fredonia State, started his tenure in January. The Buffalo native came to Tiffin after a successful stint as an assistant coach at the University of Mount Union. Wright retained volunteer assistant coach
Davey Briggs and hired Sean Tinney as his full-time assistant coach. Â
THE CAPTAINS:
The 2025 Captains for The Berg are
Kaiden Reed and
Cody Springer. Reed, a junior midfielder from Milbury, Ohio, appeared in and started 17 games last year for the Student Princes. He had 14 shots with three shots on goal, and tallied 1,414 minutes. Springer, a junior defender from Brookville, Ohio, appeared in and started 16 games last year. He tallied one pint, three shots, and logged 1,223 minutes.Â
The team roster consists of 37 men; 16 freshmen, seven sophomores, 12 juniors, one senior, and one graduate student.Â
THE SCHEDULE:
The Student Princes open the season with a pair of contests in August, starting with a trip to Wittenberg on Friday, Aug. 29. The next day, Heidelberg will welcome Transylvania to Peaceful Valley for a 3 p.m. match.
Now a nine-team conference, OAC action commences on Oct. 4 with a match at home against Wilmington. Â
The Student Princes will play eight of its 18 matches at home.Â
