Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Clark scores first collegiate goal

ALMA -- The Heidelberg University Men's Soccer team was tripped up in its final non-conference road contest on Saturday, falling to Alma, 2-1.

After a scoreless first half, the Scots struck for a goal early in the second. A shot from the edge of the penalty area had enough pace to get through a diving Collin Biehler

Heidelberg tied it in the 56th minute. Hassen Faraj chipped a short pass to Zachary Clark on the right side. Clark deftly lofted a shot over the goalkeeper and into the far side of the goal. For Clark, it was his first collegiate goal and second straight game with a point.

The score remained tied at one until the 72nd minute. A pass from the middle slipped in behind the 'Berg defense. With Biehler racing off his line, Alma's Cayden Brummels slotted a shot past him.

Heidelberg was unable to equalize, despite an incredible look with five minutes left. On a counterattack, HU played a long ball that bounced around the penalty area. Evan Johnston corralled it, took a touch to his right and sent a shot on goal. Out of position, the goalkeeper looked behind him, only to see the ball get saved off the line by an Alma defender. It was Heidelberg's last shot of the game.

Biehler made six saves in the loss.

The Student Princes close out non-conference action on Wednesday against Mount St. Joseph. Kickoff in Hoernemann Stadium is slated for 7 p.m.
