TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University Men's Soccer team fell short, 3-2, to the Lions of Mount St. Joseph Wednesday night following an action-packed second half in Hoernemann Stadium.
With Heidelberg down 1-0 at halftime,
Andre Williams Jr. chipped a short pass to
Logan Honniball, who buried his shot into the lower right corner. The goal – Honniball's first collegiate score – leveled the match, 1-1.
Mount St. Joseph responded quickly, slipping past HU's defense, tallying two more goals in the second half.
Down 3-1, The Berg began to mount a comeback. In the 76th minute,
Nate Eagan brought back hope for the Student Princes with a goal that cut the deficit to 3-2. Eagan sprinted in and intercepted a pass sent toward the MSJ goalkeeper, blistering a shot inside the near post.
Heidelberg was unable to find the equalizer, despite a strong opportunity late in the second half.
Collin Biehler recorded eight saves in the loss.
The Student Princes open OAC play at home this Saturday, at 6 p.m. against the Wilmington Quakers.
