Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Rally falls short for men's lax

ALMA, Michigan -- A sluggish second quarter spelled doom for the Heidelberg University Men's Lacrosse team in a narrow 10-8 loss at Alma College on Wednesday. The loss pushed the Student Princes back to .500 at 2-2, while the Scots improved to 6-0.

Heidelberg had two goals apiece from Tyler Alexander, Mario Manzardo and Benjamin Evans. Alexander and Jacob Morgan both had a pair of assists.

The Scots outscored Heidelberg in the second, 5-1, and held a 6-2 advantage at halftime.

As they have all season long, the Student Princes came out more aggressively in the third quarter, using a three-goal surge to prompt a timeout from the hosts.  Alma answered with two more goals before the end of the frame and led 9-5 after three.

Down 10-6 midway through the fourth, HU tightened the game with goals by Rayce Septer and Benjamin Evans. The Evans tally came with 1:47 left, but Alma won the ensuing faceoff and controlled the remainder of the game.

Goalkeeper Wilson Runnette made 11 saves in the game.

Heidelberg was 1-for-9 in man-up opportunities.

The Student Princes return to play on Saturday at Hanover College. The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
