Septer has septet of goals in win

TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University Men's Lacrosse team snapped a three-game losing streak with a resounding 18-1 win over Thiel College inside Hoernemann Stadium on Wednesday.

Rayce Septer scored seven goals and finished with eight points to lead The Berg. Benjamin Evans had four goals and an assist, and Jacob Morgan had one goal and four helpers. 

Heidelberg scored twice in the opening five minutes, with tallies by Braxton Hammond and Mario Manzardo. After Tyler Alexander made it 3-0, Manzardo caused a turnover near midfield that was scooped up by Colin Parker. In on a two-on-none, Parker fed Rayce Septer for the easy goal. HU led 4-0 after one. 

Ethan Lommerse and Benjamin Evans had goals in the first three minutes of the second period. Septer and Manzardo each picked up their second goals of the game a minute apart in the second, putting Heidelberg ahead 8-0. Evans scored again with 2:30 left before halftime. 

Up 9-1 at the break, Heidelberg added five goals in the third quarter before tacking on another 

Starting goalie Wilson Runnette made five saves in the victory.  Sonny Varrati and Aiden Carpenter both caused three turnovers.  

Septer's seven goals were the fourth-most in a game in 'Berg history. 

Heidelberg travels to Hiram on Saturday for their final non-conference game of the season. Game time with the Terriers is scheduled for 1 p.m.
