Heidelberg University, in partnership with 'Berg Athletics, is looking to officially roll out custom Sweet Alma Home sauce from MST Sauce Company and a soon-to-be-student-named Findlay Brewing Co. beer.
The sauce, a sweet and savory blend of honey, parmesan and garlic, is named for our alma mater, as the origins started with Heidelberg alumni.
Sweet Alma Home sauce originated several years ago when alumna Morgan Harrigan '09, who serves her alma mater as the Executive Director of the Owen Center for Teaching and Learning, was pregnant with her daughter, Madi.
Morgan was working at MST at the time and had a craving for something savory with a hint of sweetness. That's when she decided to drizzle honey over the top of an order of garlic parm chicken chunks – a favorite staple at MST. The flavor grew to be so popular that it turned out to be a permanent addition to the menu that we now know as M&M sauce (Morgan & Madi).
The beer, in collaboration with Findlay Brewing Co., allows Heidelberg to extend its community to the neighboring population. A Witbier, made with a mix of pilsen malt, flaked wheat and flaked oats, has a smooth, easy-drinking body. The Cluster hops add a little spicy kick, while coriander and orange peel in the boil round out the profile.
A naming contest was held where the campus community had the opportunity to try out the new brew and enter their creative ideas for the chance to crown the name on the beverage. If you want to get in on part of the action, final voting will go out on @BergAthletics social media, so be on the lookout!
Both products will allow students, alumni, community members and friends to all have the opportunity for a lasting taste of Heidelberg, supplying an instant dose of pride in the longevity of the HU community.
The sale of every bottle of Sweet Alma Home and pint of beer, will go back to support Heidelberg students all across campus.
With an alumni network of more than 15,000 people across the world, it's important to stay connected, especially as we celebrate our 175th academic year. The 'Berg branded beer and Sweet Alma Home – the song and the sauce – will always serve to nurture that bond while simultaneously supporting students at their greatest time of need.
Both products will be available for purchase between the Tiffin and Findlay communities in the near future! Contact

Cheers to creating a new tradition and enjoying local flavors!
