UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OHIO -- The Heidelberg University Women's basketball team fell short in their penultimate game of the season in a tightly contested bout with John Carroll, 78-69.
Heidelberg dropped to 3-21 overall, while John Carroll climbed to 18-6.
Morgan Altenburger finished with 25 points, one away from her season high. Altenburger was a perfect 9 for 9 from the charity stripe.
The Blue Streaks edged out Heidelberg in the second quarter, taking a seven-point lead into halftime.
After a strong third quarter effort from John Carroll, Heidelberg stormed back to make it a three-point game with 6:20 left to play. A pair of late 3-pointers from John Carroll's Graci Semptimphelter stifled the 'Berg comeback.
Chloe GIlbert added 11 points and
Emily Valencia had 10. Altenburger and Valencia each had seven rebounds.
The final game of the season is on deck, as Heidelberg stays on the road -- travelling to Wilmington. The contest is scheduled as the first part of a doubleheader on Saturday, with tip-off slated for 1 p.m.
