DELAWARE, Ohio -- In one of the best weekends in the three-year history of the reborn Heidelberg University Swim Teams, the women's team was third and the men's team was fourth at Ohio Wesleyan's Corbiere-Merion Invitational this weekend. On Saturday, the women's 200 yard medley relay team --
Hannah Robinson,
Addison Fortney,
Elli Mayer and
Delaney Buxton -- started the meet with a second place finish. The quartet set a school record with a 1:57.07.
Fortney added a school record in the 200 free with a time of 2:03.05. Later, she was part of another school record, teaming up with Mayer, Buxton and
Courtney Kaye for a third-place finish in the 400 free relay, clocking a 3:49.29.
In the women's 100 free, Fortney, Mayer and Buxton went 3-4-5, racking up the points for the team.
Savannah Suto was ninth.
The women's 800 free relay set yet another HU record late on Saturday -- with Mayer, Fortney, Buxton and Kaye touching the wall in 8:33.37. Their time was good for second.
Andrey Pilipchuk set the only record for the men on Saturday, clocking a 53.67 in the 100 fly.
On Sunday, Mayer and Fortney splashed to fourth and fifth in the highly-competitive 50 free, finishing with 25.41 and 25.55. Pilipchuk set another record, clocking s 22.02 in the men's 50 free.
In the 400 individual medley, Kaye was fourth with a 5:13.22 and
Ella Sigman was fifth with a 5:13.34.
The Student Princes put a bow on the weekend with school records on both sides of the 200 free relay. Mayer, Fortney, Buxton and Kaye finished in 1:43.81 and Pilipchuk,
Zach MacDonald,
Evan Eaglin and
Roland Green clocked a 1:31.32.
The third and fourth place team finishes were HU's best at the Corbiere-Merion Invitational.
The final event for Heidelberg in 2025 is the three-day Wooster Invitational. The event starts Thursday, Dec. 4.
