NEW CONCORD – Heidelberg University Women's Basketball secured a thrilling 60-59 road victory over Muskingum inside the Anne C. Steele Center. The win moved The Berg to 3-14 overall and 2-8 in OAC play, while Muskingum fell to 4-13 overall and 2-8 in OAC action.
The game was highlighted by a furious third-quarter offensive push, where Heidelberg poured on 24 points to overcome a halftime deficit.
Emma Keto exploded for 12 of her 15 points in the quarter, going 4-for-5 from distance.
Morgan Altenburger grabbed five rebounds to help the team dominate the quarter.
With the lead changing hands six times in the final quarter, Heidelberg leaned on critical offensive shots and tough defensive plays to secure the win. Keto drilled a crucial three-pointer with 3:57 left, giving Heidelberg a narrow lead. Soon after,
Ashley Ballard called game with a layup at the 1:38 mark, and the defense stood tall to prevent Muskingum's game-winning attempt.
Three starters netted double digits in scoring, led by Keto and
Chloe Gilbert with 15 points each. Altenburger hauled in 12 rebounds, including six on the offensive glass, and added 14 points for her third double-double of the season.
Ashley Ballard's four steals set a new season high. The Berg was dominant in the paint, scoring 28 points inside while turning 16 Muskingum turnovers into 13 points.
Heidelberg returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Capital University. The game is slated for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
